Social and Environmental Projects

Corporate volunteering enriches team work, awakening new potentials, creating an environment of friendship and companionship. Cosmotec, through its Project named Projeto Estrelinhas do Mar ("Little Starfish Project"), develops a series of activities in several institutions, besides being a friendly company to the children and teenagers by being a member of ABRINQ and FUMCAD. The company has as Internal Program of Environmental Responsibility, with awareness campaigns to the staff and their families, besides the Program for Collection of Recyclable Materials. The industrial plant complies with the laws and with all the environmental commitments assumed by the company, preventing pollution, controlling, detecting and monitoring the disposal of residues, packages, wastewater recycling, and products transportation. This confirms the commitment to the company's Environmental Management System.

On March 22 of 2009 (World Water Day), Cosmotec launched a campaign of education and incitement for saving water: Água Q.S.P. Campaign. The Q.S.P. symbol means "Quantidade Suficiente Para… (Quantity Sufficient To…)" and represents the goal of the initiative: to make each one of us to use only the amount of water necessary to live well, without wasting and without the draining of important resources for the planet future generations.

Projeto Estrelinhas do Mar ("Little Starfish Project") by Cosmotec Community

Cosmotec encourages its collaborators and their families to volunteer, in order to help institutions that take care of needy children. Therefore, the Cosmotec Community created in 2001 the Projeto Estrelinhas do Mar ("Little Starfish Project"), that currently benefits Lar Dona Cotinha, an orphanage with 33 children and adolescents whose parents have lost their custody for different reasons; LEMDA, which is a shelter and school to children and adolescents that has special needs; Casa Vida ("Life House"), shelter of HIV’s seropositive children, etc.

Many other actions are made in behalf of these and other institutions, whenever it is necessary.

Abrinq

Cosmotec is an associate of Abrinq Foundation for The Rights of Children and Adolescents since September of 2000. In recognition to the commitments made on behalf of children and adolescents (specially in the prevention and eradication of child labour) and the social actions developed by Cosmotec Community in its Projeto Estrelinhas do Mar ("Little Starfish Project"), Cosmotec received the certificate and the label "Child Friendly company Program" of Abrinq Foundation.

GRAACC

In 2010, Cosmotec became a sponsor of GRAACC - Support Group for Children and Adolescents with Cancer. The work of this nonprofit organization aims to ensure children and adolescents with the right to access all the chances of cure with quality of life, based in the most advanced scientific standards.

GRAACC’s hospital performs more than 2,500 consultations monthly, divided between chemotherapy sessions, regular consultations, outpatient procedures, surgery and bone marrow transplants, among others.
